Blogs and Advertising

Blogs are a new cultural phenomenon that have spread all over the world for the last couple of years.

They also are a fantastic platform for advertisers. Until now advertising companies were contacting influent Bloggers and in exchange of a small renumeration put banners on their blog. However the Bloggers had no choice in the brand or the campaign, these were controlled by the companies.

Another trend, more subtle, is sending samples to test to the Bloggers and have them writing an article about it..: cosmetics, lingerie, etc.

That's how it worked till now...

Then came Ebuzzing, a revolutionnary concept which allows bloggers to choose the campaigns they would like to write about and get paid for their articles.

ebuzzing is a European platform who puts together Bloggers and Advertisers. Bloggers log in, find out a topic, a product a service they are interested in and decide to write about it: Like. Recommend. Earn. Brillant!

Advertisers post their campaigns and the price they are ready to pay for it.

Bloggers can choose only what fit them, their blog and their readers.

The price is usually set by ebuzzing based on traffic, statistics, etc. But every Blogger can set his/her own price according to the value they give to their writing and influence.

So basically, Bloggers can choose the campaigns they want to write about at the advertisers price or wait for the advertisers to contact them directly and be paid at their own price.

This is a rather creative way to allow Bloggers to be part of an advertising campaign and at the same time respect their editorial line and feelings.

Blogs are powerful tools, a small community that share same interests represents a fantastic oportunity for advertisers, but not only... Public Relations consultants as well. The public is already there.. waiting for the information to come.

Sarkozy to sue Ryanair?

Sarkozy has been everywhere over the last months: from his divorce to his new girlfriend, no one missed an episode... And not only in France.
Suddenly even British newspapers were publishing photos of the French President and his girlfriend climbing the pyramids.

But I keep wondering: how far will he go? The media exposure is already huge and to be honest I don't mind (fair enough... I don't live in France...). After all he's just a man.

Oh wait, no! Not really.

He is President of the Republic, Head of State... I just can't see Zapatero or Angela Merkel making such a fuzz of their private life.

But that's not the point really. What I do wonder is: did Sarkozy eventually cross a line? and by exposing himself so much in the media, does his image therefore belong to everybody?

I don't think so.

To my opinion, it has been unethical for Ryanair to use this photo for advertising purpose, but again, should Sarkozy be seen hanging around showing off his new girlfriend on State visits?

No!

If I had been him I would have shut my mouth and discretly asked Ryanair to take this ad off.
To sue the company? Please... what a nonsense, he is the President, not Madonna!!

Last but not least, a crucial question: who on earth are his communication people????

First time I found out about this website (and after having waisted a couple of hours on it..) I started to think: How?
How such a concept be successful on the world wide web? One answer: Social networking!

The concept is simple enough, as I said before, addictive (I know I keep repeating myself), easilyunderstood by everybody and enterteining.

It is.

So world of mouth and influential bloggers made it realisable. A blog can potentially reach thousands of users, it's a mine for advertisers of course but also non-profit organisations.
An example: the current trend on blogs actually is discussing environmental issues with over 100,000 new postings over the course of the summer months. But how many readers for each of those posts? How many comments and discussions derivated from those posts?

I let you imagine the incredible exposure potential for critical issues carried by Charities and/or Non-profit Organisations.

This is the beginning...

This where all start, now. This blog is the first active step I'm taking towards this new career I've been willing to start.
PR.. Public Relations... surprising how so many people misconcept this profession.

Here is my firt post. Not really interesting, isn't it? Anyway day after day I am goint to try to make this blog alive and interesting. Hope to see you all here.
